Each year the Foundation awards grants to teachers and schools. The grants look for activities and materials that will be used to enhance the learning process and help teachers try methods that allow them to teach “outside of the box”.

Logan Elm, LEEF, and Ohio Christian University hosted its second annual writing competition for grades 5-12. Miss Tarah Smith from McDowell worked along with Lyndi Ross, LEEF chair, and Ohio Christian University to provide a competition to encourage the creative writing within our district. OCU judged the competition for us to provide anonymity to the students. Impressive writing by all was the overall take away that OCU gave the adults. Taking top honors for Best of Round 1 were Evey Smith (6th grader), and Genevieve Carstensen (10th grader). Runner-up for Best of Round 1 were Lane Renier (7th grader) and Adriana Collier (9th grader). Best of Round 2 were Nate Edge (8th grader) and Wylie Lytle (9th grader). Runner-up for Best of Round 2 were Sam Braun (7th grader) and Gracianne Gray (11th grader). A unique take on the topic was required in order to win the Most Striking Interpretation. These went to Julia Weller (Salt Creek), Allison Weller (McDowell) and Grace Engel (Logan Elm High School). Logan Elm Education Foundation supplied all of the awards for the competition. Thanks to all who participated!
